Christmas 2010

We had an awesome holiday season this last year. We got the best gift ever on Christmas Eve day: Nuncle Matt came to celebrate Christmas with us! It was so neat to have him there. He of course spoiled us all rotten and was so fun to have in our home! Please, please, please come again Nuncle Matt!

Christmas Eve we had some awesome friends, and family over for dinner. The Moes family with their 4 kids joined us as well as Colby, Steph and newborn baby Keller. The food was killer (Prime rib etc), ambiance was great (the power went out after dinner which was a ton of fun) and conversation was terrific. We are so lucky to have so many people we love nearby! Thanks for making our Christmas Eve fun and memorable (even if we didnt get any pictures)!

Each Christmas Eve Santa's elves deliver us Christmas jammies. We were surprised to see that Matt even got jammies. Where on earth Santa found a onesie big enough to fit a 6'4" man I'll never know!

Another tradition we have is opening one present on Christmas Eve. Tae picked out her gift to Uncle Matt and was so excited to give it to him. She picked none other than a pair of bright red "Flash" underwear. She wanted to get him a small but I convinced her that Matt's bum was big like Daddy's so a small wouldn't fit!

Luckily Matt was a good sport and immediately tried them on (although he later learned that the lightning bolt was a great target for Blake)!

Christmas morning was met with excitement and joy ... as well as tears and temper tantrums. Kai wasn't too sure about the is whole present thing! I swear all morning long I saw him carrying around a homemade roll. I'm not sure if he ate the darn thing or kept swiping a new one but almost every picture of the kid he's got a roll in hand!

Bruce sent the boys each a CAT hat. They love them. It was cute to see them trade hats (even though it was the same hat)!

Tae got a video camera that can take still shots as well. Luckily she is old enough to realize that her 'big' gift cost a lot so she didn't get as many gifts as the little kids!

Check out Aliya with her loot! I got wise this year and brought the kids laundry baskets down to hold all their presents. It kept things somewhat tidy (well, until a little brother or two started tearing through the piles)!

Daddy got the shaft yet again! Mommy thought she'd ordered some good gifts but luckily Santa leaves receipts ... most things got returned! Mommy however scored with a bunch of cooking classes. Wahoo!

Poor Nuncle Matt had been up most of the night before throwing up. No fun being sick, on Christmas, away from home etc. However I think Tae's pink snuggie made him feel a bit better!

Your husband and my husband had the same Christmas, I thought I'd done good but he took everything back but a pair of shoes. Oh well. I say he needs to be less picky....or buy his own like I do! From the mouths of babes

I think its interesting the way kids mix up a word, we think its cute then we begin using it in its wrong form. Here are a few of our 'new' words:

Shampoo-Panda: Kung-fu Panda

Pupcake: Cupcake

Pack-pack: Back-pack

Mow lawner: Lawn mower

We recently rented "Kung-fu Panda". The girls have had fun playing 'Karate'. Earlier today Aliya asked if she could play 'Shampoo Panda'. What I asked? 'Shampoo Panda -- ya know 'hi-ya'. Incredibly cute misunderstanding!

Today while I was getting ready for a GNO, Aliya asked if we were going to church. I said "No, today is Wednesday. Why do you think we're going to church?" Little imp replied that I only do my hair when we go to church. Sad to say but its true. Guess I need to start doing my hair more often!

One afternoon when Aliya was about 18 months, Tony had a left a few of his prescription pills out and they fell on the floor. I saw Aliya putting something in her mouth and immediately let out an "Ah hell" then went to fish it out. Taeya pipes up "All hail what Mommy" to which I replied "All hail the Queen". Swear word catastrophe averted! Its coming one of these days but luckily STILL hasn't hit us (except when they say BYU and that is worse than any swear word at our house)!

Today I got a new pair of jeans and was asking Tae if they make my bum look big or little. She spread her hands apart and said "this is fat" then spread her hands about an inch in and said "you're almost there". Thank you little turd!

As we were getting in the car to go somewhere the other day the girls kept fighting and it was driving me crazy. After I separated them and got everything calmed down I said "you girls are going to kill me". Taeya immediately said "No we wont Mom, we don't have any guns or swords". Okay fine, they aren't going to kill me just drive me to drink!

Once after a particular stinky day at our house, Aliya walked up behind me and said "mom, you have a 'roma". She somewhere picked up the word aroma. At least she was using it correctly. Sad when your three year old calls you out!

When we were planning Taeya's birthday party I asked her if she'd rather have sandwiches or pizza. She asked "which cost more money"? I told her they were about the same and that money didn't matter. She then asked "which will be easier for you"? I said probably pizza to which she replied she wanted pizza. Is she a good kid or what?

One of my friends was over with her 15 month old twin boys. One was dressed in orange, the other in red. At one point Aliya comes running in and said "the red one getting away". That is now how we differentiate between the two, the red one and the orange one!

Last night when Taeya was helping me give Blake a bath, she looked down and said "Mom, Blakes pee-pee looks like a turkey". Guess thats is an adequate description from a Kindergartner!

While I was being monitored in the hospital last year, Tae was playing with her friend Karter. Bridgette, the mom, told the girls they were going to make cookies. When Bridge pulled out the Nestle log of cookie dough, Tae informed her that those were NOT cookies. Spoiled kid didn't know cookies came pre-made!

A year or two ago, a little boy (Jackson) came over to play with Taeya and she was showing him her scooter and its "dinger thing" (bell). Jack then told her his ding-a-ling was broken. I told his dad as long as his ding-a-ling was broken, he could come play anytime!

Last night I overheard Aliya telling Taeya "you're ruining my life" all because Taeya quit reading a book to her. Oh the drama we have yet to see at our house!

At the mall Aliya kept asking her Aunt Becky to ride up and down the "alligator" (elevator) with her.

I was helping Aliya do something when Blake started to cry. I asked her if Uncle Jeff could finish and she said "No, hims too crazy". True, true!

The other night as we were eating pasta with ranch on it, Tae said "Mom, you are such a good cook. You should be on TV". Ah, gotta love her innocence!

One afternoon I told Aliya to go play for a couple minutes then when I was done getting ready we'd leave. She put her head down and stormed out muttering "oh you are terrible"!
